LIFT OFF TO LEARNING:
NASA Science in the Classroom

June 30 - July 3, 2008
Course 16.716 - 2 Credits

Course fee: $300
Fee for 2 Grad Credits: $130

Instructor:  Sean Richardson, M.Ed.

Looking for ways to incorporate real-time science into your classroom teaching?  Want to impress even the most indifferent student when it comes to science?  In this content-rich course, we will explore the wide range of resources that NASA offers to educators from grades 3 through middle school.  Through extensive exposure to dozens of NASA web sites geared to educators, we will look at the myriad of free resources that NASA offers teachers to integrate science, math, social studies, and language arts into the classroom curriculum.  You will have the opportunity to apply to NASA for an all expense paid teacher-fellowship to a NASA space center.  From requesting free (!) space shuttle tiles to building, and test-flying,  a virtual airplane, this course is sure to re-ignite your love for science teaching and learning!

Mr. Sean Richardson, a fifth grade teacher in the Norwood Public Schools, has taught elementary and middle school students for over 10 years in both public and private settings.  He recently was selected to attend a NASA Educator's Workshop at the Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Alabama.  Sean is also an Intel-Certified Master Teacher who trains educators to incorporate educational technology into their existing curriculum.

Two Framingham State College credits are available for this workshop for an additional fee.
